My Haiku

tree

a tree needn’t move

to prove how mighty it is

sheltering sparrows

apple

apple in a jar

jail cell of autumn delight

dreaming of release

seagull

seagull on steeple

dawn wind fluttering feathers

prayer for the day

pewter

pewter skies in spring

nothing to be sorry for

hope springs eternal

forsythia

first forsythia

bloom against biting March wind

they trust in heaven

butter

color of butter

splashes across our ramblings

morning unfolding

eclispe

off chasing the sun

final eclipse of my life

all is brevity

sniff

seagulls sniff the spring

and tell of a storm at sea—

birds speak but to God

cherry blossom

cherry blossom time

it’s such a cliché to say—

petal and cheek kiss

peepers

night comes without fail

giving us welcome respite—

except for peepers

birds singing

I hear birds singing

their chirping celebrates life—

serenade the day

squirrels

squirrels vacillating

whether to chase or to chew—

the day’s decisions
